How long does it take to process an application?
Your application should be processed in about 4 to 6 weeks. After your kids are approved for CHIP, coverage will usually start on the first day of the next month. For example, if you receive approval on June 15th, coverage would start July 1st.

I applied for CHIP coverage online. How can I check the status of my application?
If you applied for CHIP online and it has been more than 30 days since you applied, please visit the COMPASS website to check the status of your application. You will need your e-form number and password.

How do I check the status of my CHIP application if I don’t know which CHIP health insurance company my application went to?
If you applied for CHIP more than 30 days ago and don’t know which CHIP insurance company received your application, find a CHIP health insurance company in your county. Then, call each company to locate your application and check the status.

If there is no record of your application, you may re-apply for CHIP or leave a message at 1-800-986-KIDS (5437). A CHIP representative will return your call within the next two business days.
